Meet some of the Foundation's friends and supporters who have battled serious illness and disease to share their truly amazing stories of courage and survival thanks to the remarkable medical research and medical teams at the Princess Alexandra Hospital.

Susan suffer's from a rare congenital heart condition which effects otherwise fit and healthy people. It wasn't until the sudden death of her son that a local GP took urgent medical notice sending Susan and her daughter to the PA where the rare disease is the focus of research.
Susan and her daughter have since been fitted with defibrillators and are now raising funds for heart disease research at the PA in the hope that her Grandchildren will not have to live with the same condition .....

A PSA test saved Stewart's life - he had Prostate Cancer.
"If I had gone to the doctor fiver year's earlier when my brother was diagnosed with prostate cancer, I may not have had to have my entire prostate removed and I would have a lot more function that I do today" says Stewart
"Treatment options for prostate cancer are limited and all have serious side effects - that is why it is so important that we support the research conducted on PA campus home to the Australian Prosteta Cancer Centre" ...

Jay is living with melanoma - and is continuing to beat the odds after a decade of remarkable treatment and diagnosis at the PA Hospital. But as Jay will tell you "Don't feel sorry for me, mine is a good story, a story of survival."
"I am one of the lucky ones becuase at this stage there is no cure and very options available for people diagnosed with melanoma which is why research into melanoma at the PA is so critical".
Jay is writing a book about his journey with melanoma to raise awareness and funds for research and to help other young people who are battling with the disease ...

The unusual case of Ronald can be likened to "being struck by lightning twice" - 5 years ago Ronald was diagnosed with 2 very rare and life threatening tumours, but thanks to past medical research at the PA he lived to tell the tale.
"I am very grateful that research into rare tumours like mine has made information available to neurosurgeons - the treatment I received at the PA would not have been possible 10 years ago. We benefited from what knowledge was on had and hopefully my case will also contribute to that knowledge in the future ...
