ALH Hotels across Queensland contributed to a record $207,060 raised from Australian Leisure and Hospitality Group (ALH) Hotels during July - another record fundraising achievment from the group!
ALH Queensland president Trevor Smith made the announcement last night to representatives (Wed 31 August) from over 100 pubs who took part in the campaign.
The ALH Breast Cancer Fundraiser is a partnership between the Australian Leisure and Hospitality Group (ALH) and the PA Research Foundation. During the month of July over 100 ALH Venues across Queensland fundraised to help raise crucial funds to help find better treatments, care options and outcomes for women living with breast cancer.

Katie Noonan and Network Ten's Georgie Lewis kicked off the appeal to assist in raising funds for breast cancer research. Like the $750,000 human trial for a new treatment for estrogen receptor-negative (ER-) responsible for a staggering 30 per cent of breast cancer deaths and claiming more lives of women in the 25-45 age group than any other cancer.
The Victory Hotel campaigned along with pubs from Ayr to Dalby, Toowoomba to Palm Beach - donating $2 from every steak bought in July to the PA Research Foundation's breast cancer campaign.
ALH Queensland president Trevor Smith said more than 75 per cent of their employees were women - so not only was this cancer personal - it struck a chord with staff to galvanise fundraising like never before.
"The researchers need $750,000 to put 10 women through the trial: in one month we have raised enough to put almost three women through and that is very inspiring indeed," Mr Smith said.
"No one shoule die of cancer especially women in the prime of their lives. Clinical trials are crucial to providing options: better treatment and new drugs that would not normally be accessible. Cancer treatments are very toxic - chemotherapy does little to help ER- so a breakthrough treatment will be world changing. It is a privilege to be part of that."
Special thanks to Georgie Lewis of Network Ten and Katie Noonan lead singer of Katie Noonan and the Captians for their support to this campaign.
Also a special thanks to Katrina Christ for donating her photography skills.
