This is the very human face of Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) - a disease long misunderstood and dismissed by society as an "old person's disease".

"There is nothing glamourous about RA - it is painful, disfiguring, debilitating and ruining the lives of millions of Australians.  But we CAN do something about it.

Be a PArt of a world wide breakthrough.  Tell your friends, "I helped stamp out arthritis!" - NOW IS THE TIME.  Jo Barron - RA Patient

The June 2010 Appeal is a major fundraising initiative of the PA Research Foundation to raise crucial funds for life-changing research projects.

The Appeals target is to raise $100,000 to purchase a vital piece of equipment called a Homgeniser - a machine that is desperately needed for the Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) research project to stamp out RA!

Already we are $35,000 on our way thanks to a generous donation from the Yin Foo Family - but we are still $65,000 short of reaching our goal. Please dig deep to help us bring this research to life.

RA is an incurable disease that sadly carries a stigma. It's a disease where sufferers feel isolated and don't believe they can get better.  Women put off pregnancy, can't nurse their babies and take care of their families.

Put simply, RA leads to antibody development and inflammation of synovial tissue joints.  The subsequent cartilage and bone erosion leads to joint destruction.

The PA Research Foundation needs your help to change the face of this debilitating disease and like the cervical cancer vaccine - bring the world a cure.

Never before have researchers been closer to providing a solution to a disease affecting the quality of lives of hundreds of thousands of Australians.

But the team desperately need a piece of machinery called a Homogeniser  - which will unequivocally speed up the research process allowing the research to move forward.

Your support of the RA Appeal will help purchase this machine which is critical to the next phase of RA Research.
