The PA Research Foundation have celebrated raising an incredible $850,000 for their inaugural PA Giving Day, Give 4 Thanks, on Thursday September 12.
The campaign set out to raise $500,000 for patient support, state of the art equipment and medical research at the PA Hospital to improve health care and ultimately outcomes for patients, their families and the wider community.
Give 4 Thanks exceeded the ambitious goal of $500,000 within 8 hours; launching a bonus round and setting a new stretch target of $850,000. Within 12 hours, the campaign had raised over $850,000; thanks to generous matching donors, who quadrupled every donation received on the day to further its impact.
The PA Giving Day Headquarters, set up in the main foyer of the hospital, was a hive of activity throughout the day, with dozens of volunteers rallying together to make hundreds of calls to donors. Hospital staff, patients and members of the community joined in the festivities, offering their support by visiting the HQ to make a donation, pat a therapy alpaca or share a message of support.
The Giving Day presence was strong throughout the Hospital, with over 30 departments representing teams to raise funds for both their individual departments and the PA Hospital, collectively. The teams held various activations to help spread the message about Give 4 Thanks throughout the hospital.
Damian Topp, PA Research Foundation CEO says he is blown away by the outpouring of support from the Hospital's community and generous matching donors.
"We have a wonderful, tight-knit community of friends, family and supporters here at the PA, and seeing them band together to get behind this kind of initiative and give back to the PA Hospital is truly heartwarming. The Foundation is excited to continue to invest in health care at the PA to help support the patients of and today and tomorrow," said Damian.
The $853,455 was collectively raised by 1219 individual donors and quadrupled by the generous matching donors. Thank you so much to everyone who contributed to the PA Research Foundation's inaugural Giving Day and helped us achieve this fantastic result.
