PARF commits $1.35 million to medical research

Thursday 21 November 2019

The PA Research Foundation's 2020 Research Awards have been announced during the Metro South Health Support Scheme Research Awards Night on Tuesday, November 19.

The Foundation announced it will be distributing over $1.35 million in funding in 2020, across 10 innovative research projects, in addition to several other collaborative health research initiatives. Five of the grants were awarded to new projects, and five were continuation of funding for 2019 grants.

The Research Awards were allocated to clinically led, collaborative teams across the five specific research categories, as directed by PARF donors. These research areas include skin cancer, breast cancer, prostate cancer, other cancer areas and other health areas.

PA Research Foundation CEO, Damian Topp said the Foundation is committed to investing in research that is novel in concept, allowing us the opportunity to support the next big medical discovery.

"It is a real privilege for the Foundation to provide donor-directed grants to help facilitate translational research at the world-class PA Hospital Campus again in 2020," said Damian.

"We are so fortunate to have some of the brightest minds in research at the PA, who are firmly committed to improving outcomes for patients facing health challenges here at our Hospital, and beyond.

"Thank you to our incredible community of supporters and partners for another amazing year – we couldn't do this without your generosity and support," he said.
