About DonateLife
DonateLife Queensland is a state-wide service which coordinates organ and tissue donation across Queensland and is a part of the national network under the direction of the Organ and Tissue Authority, Canberra.
The primary role of DonateLife Queensland is to support donors and their families in the hospitals, and to provide education, guidance and support to clinicians in hospitals who care for families involved in organ and tissue donation.
The DonateLife Queensland agency is based at the Princess Alexandra Hospital in Brisbane and supports a network of dedicated specialist donation nurses and doctors in most hospitals in the state.
As well as our clinical work in the hospitals, DonateLife Queensland staff and volunteers spend much of their time working in the community raising awareness about organ and tissue donation. We also provide education and training for our volunteers and champions, who comprise of transplant recipients and donor families. Another important part of our work is publicly acknowledging the generosity of donors and their families through events such as national “Thank You” Day, and most significantly, Services of Remembrance, which are held annually in 10 locations across the state.
Your financial donation will help us in our work to save and improve the lives and health of individuals, families and the community through increasing our reach and profile as well as awareness and registration on the Australian Organ Donor Register. This means increased access to life saving transplantation for Queenslanders.
