Aveo’s partnership with the PA Research Foundation is powered by two complementary forces: a national commitment to supporting Australians through later life, and deeply local communities where residents and teams come together around causes that truly matter.
This story begins at the corporate level, where Aveo’s long-standing support for Project Pink reflects its values and purpose, before moving closer to home to Aveo’s Albany Creek Retirement Village, where that commitment is brought to life through hands-on fundraising, shared stories and genuine connection.
Corporate Q&A - Aveo
Q: When did Aveo’s partnership with the PA Research Foundation begin?
Claire: Aveo’s relationship with Project Pink began in 2016, supporting breast cancer research led by Professor Fiona Simpson at the UQ Diamantina Institute. Since then, Project Pink has become an important cause across Aveo communities.
Q: What inspired AVEO to get involved with the Foundation?
Claire: Rather than one individual story, our connection is built on many. Across our communities, residents and team members have been touched by breast cancer in different ways. Those shared experiences continue to inspire strong and genuine support for Project Pink each year.
Q: Why is supporting medical research and patient care important to Aveo?
Claire: Supporting the PA Research Foundation aligns with Aveo’s commitment to helping retired Australians be their best selves at every stage of later life. Project Pink enables residents and team members to be part of something bigger and contribute to research that makes a real difference for individuals, families and communities.
Q: How does this partnership reflect Aveo’s values?
Claire: Community, care and connection are central to who we are. Our relationship with the PA Research Foundation allows residents and team members to channel those values into meaningful action, supporting health, wellbeing and research that benefits Australians now and into the future.
Q: Why are corporate partnerships like this important for organisations such as the PA Research Foundation?
Claire: Community-led efforts, sustained over time, create meaningful outcomes for patients, families and researchers. Partnerships like this don’t just raise funds; they build awareness, foster connection and help foundations continue their vital work.
Local Q&A – Albany Creek Retirement Village
Q: Julia, can you tell us about your role at Aveo’s Albany Creek Retirement Village?
Julia: I’m the Events and Activities Coordinator at Albany Creek Retirement Village. I design and deliver a wide range of activities and events for residents, from fitness and wellness programs to themed social events, information sessions, celebrations and community fundraisers.
Q: Why has Project Pink resonated so strongly at Albany Creek?
Julia: Many of our residents and team members have been affected by breast cancer, either personally or through someone close to them. Supporting the PA Foundation feels like a natural way to contribute to a cause that means a great deal to our community.
Q: What does fundraising look like on the ground?
Julia: Each October, residents and team members organise a wide range of events, including raffles, cupcake and cookie drives, paint-and-sip sessions, car washes, morning teas, sausage sizzles, craft stalls, lawn bowls competitions, and themed lunches and dinners. We’re also fortunate to have strong relationships with contractors and suppliers who generously donate resources to help make these events successful.
Q: How involved are staff and residents?
Julia: Everyone gets involved. Our team volunteers their time, sells raffle tickets, assists with events and donates prizes. Our residents are extremely passionate and often drive the fundraising ideas themselves, which plays a huge role in their success.
Q: What has been the most rewarding part of being involved?
Julia: Seeing the amount our village has raised over the years is incredibly rewarding, but just as special is the connection it creates between residents and staff. It truly brings everyone together for a shared purpose.
Q: Are there any moments that stand out?
Julia: We’ve been fortunate to have members of the PA Research Foundation team visit and speak at our village. Hearing how our fundraising directly supports research, equipment and patient care makes the impact very real and deeply meaningful.
Looking Ahead
Q: How do you see the partnership continuing in the future?
Claire: Aveo communities will continue to support Project Pink, driven by the passion, generosity and leadership of residents and community teams across the country.
Q: What would you say to other organisations considering getting involved?
Claire: You don’t need to start big. Community-led initiatives, supported consistently over time, can create genuine impact. If your organisation values people, connection and care, this is a partnership that truly makes a difference.
