Since the early 90’s, survival rates for breast cancer have increased from 76% to 92%, largely thanks to breast cancer research.
At the PA Research Foundation, we believe funding for this research is central to offering hope to patients, and many advancements have been made possible because of our community’s support.
Throughout October, in celebration of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the Foundation’s Project Pink campaign continues its critical role in raising funds for groundbreaking breast cancer research. One of the longest-standing supporters of this initiative has been Aveo Retirement Villages, whose dedication to the cause has been evident since 2016.
A generous partnership that has flourished over the years, Aveo’s contribution has been nothing short of incredible. To date, Aveo has raised more than $1.2 million, efforts which in the past few years have led by Aveo’s Albany Creek location, directly impacting life-saving research, bringing it a step closer to finding better treatments through clinical trials and, ultimately, a cure.
This year, Aveo’s participation in Project Pink will be even more significant, with 67 locations across multiple states taking part in fundraising efforts. Through a variety of engaging initiatives, Aveo residents and staff continue to show their incredible support for breast cancer research, making a real difference in the lives of those affected by the disease. The funds raised by Aveo go directly towards funding vital research into new breast cancer treatments. Notably, contributions from the Project Pink campaign have supported combination therapy research led by Professor Fiona Simpson, a leading expert in breast cancer research. This work is crucial to finding innovative treatments that can improve the survival rates of patients.
“The partnership between Aveo and Project Pink is a true testament to the power of community collaboration”, said Ellen Dann, Community Partnerships Manager.
“Their dedication since 2016 has helped raise over crucial funds for breast cancer research, offering fresh hope for the 21,000 Australians who are diagnosed each year.”
This October, Aveo aims to continue its record of raising essential funds for breast cancer research. The public can show their support by making donations to our Project Pink campaign or via Aveo’s fundraising initiatives.Residents and staff at Aveo’s various locations will be organising a variety of local events and activities to raise awareness and funds. With your help, Project Pink campaign can continue to fund vital research by the likes of Professor Simpson and her team.
