Aveo's generous residents continue to raise vital funds for breast cancer research by backing Project Pink each October.
With the advancement of breast cancer research, survival rates have shown a great increase from 76% in the early 90s to 92% today. The risk of being diagnosed with breast cancer over a lifetime is 1 in 7 for women and 1 in 612 for men, and more can be done to reduce these risks.
This October, during Breast Cancer Awareness month, PA Research Foundation’s Project Pink campaign continues its pivotal role in raising funds for groundbreaking breast cancer research.
A foundational and enduring advocate for this initiative has been Aveo Retirement Villages.
From the start of their collaboration with Project Pink in 2016, Aveo has raised $1.42 million, which has gone directly to funding vital research into new breast cancer treatments. Led by breast cancer research expert Professor Fiona Simpson and the University of Queensland’s Simpson Lab whose work is focused on improving outcomes for breast cancer patients.
Aveo’s meaningful participation in Project Pink spans over 67 locations across Queensland, Victoria, New South Wales and Tasmania.
Every October, Aveo communities self-organise on-the-ground fundraising, which include raffles, paint-and-sip sessions, lawn bowl competitions and themed lunches and dinners, and more, bringing about community-led effort for a community-centred initiative.
In 2025, Aveo raised over $46,800, with Aveo’s Forest Grove Retirement Village location leading the charge.

This breast cancer awareness month, Stellarossa Cafés have joined Aveo in supporting Project Pink, with 23 stores contributing to breast cancer research and patient care at the PA Hospital.
This October, you can support breast cancer research by making a direct donation to the Project Pink campaign, giving through Aveo’s fundraising initiatives or by visiting your local Stellarossa café.
Residents and staff at Aveo’s various locations will be organising a variety of local events and activities to raise awareness and funds.
