Beryl Gilatt pictured with her husband George has raised more than $30,000 for the Foundation through various events.
Putting the Fun in Fundraising!
Fundraising superstar Beryl Gillatt is once again hosting her famous and fabulous High Tea in support of the Foundation.
Driven by her own experience as a patient at the PA Hospital in 2011, Beryl has more than given back to the community that saved her life.
Beryl began as a volunteer with the Foundation in 2012. She went on to spend eight years supporting oncology patients by delivering wigs, turbans and joyful energy around the ward.
“We had two female mannequin heads and a male; we used to say the male was Johnny Depp because we put a little earring on it and I put coloured eyelashes on the ladies,” she said.
Despite her life becoming busier in every way, she continues to host functions to garner support for the PA Research Foundation. Beryl’s events ensure that we can continue to fund breakthrough research, and in turn improve patient outcomes.
As an avid supporter of the PA Research Foundation, Beryl champions the achievements of the Foundation any chance she gets. Always going above and beyond, over her 14 years of giving she has single handedly raised over 33k.
Zach Sandford, PA Research Foundation’s Volunteer Coordinator has the highest praise for her, “Beryl is a longstanding and well-respected member of the PA Foundation community. For over a decade she’s donated both her time and money through her fundraising events.
“We sincerely appreciate everything she has done for us and everything her fundraising has helped us achieve.”
From Melbourne Cup luncheons to roaring 20s Great Gatsby movie nights, Beryl knows how to throw a party.
“Last year we had our 60th wedding anniversary so that was the most money I’ve ever made, which was fabulous. We had, oh so many people, it was terrific,” she said.
When asked about what motivates her to continue organising these events, Beryl responded, “Well it’s something to do and I just love doing it”
Curious as to what Beryl’s favourite event is?
“Probably, the Melbourne Cup. Because there's the food and the excitement about the event and then the excitement about the race. I love doing that, and I've done that, you know, for a long, long time.”
This year Beryl is hosting a High Tea on 15 May, where all profits will be donated to the PA Research Foundation to fund their work improving outcomes for hospital patients.
Guests can expect a delicious spread of hand-made desserts, sandwiches and elegant place settings, all displayed on tiered cake stands. With raffle prizes up for grabs and a bonus award for best dressed, some lucky guests will walk away with more than a full stomach.
