This October we’re not just running; we’re running with purpose.
Join the King’s College community for King’s in Pink, an annual fun run/walk along the Brisbane river in support of breast cancer research. Whether you choose to walk or jog, or cheer from the sidelines, you’ll be standing in solidarity with the 58 Australians on average who are diagnosed with breast cancer every single day. This event raised $23k last year and this year the goal is $25K in 2025.
A Tradition Born from the Heart
King’s in Pink began as a heartfelt initiative by Thérèse Eddy, who dreamed of opening the University of Queensland’s College doors to the incredible women behind every Kingsman; mothers, sisters, friends, and supporters. What started as a cocktail lunch to connect and uplift women has become a powerful movement of hope and action.
Now years later, Thérèse finds herself facing her own breast cancer journey. Her strength and initiative remind us why this event matters more than ever.
Why We Run
This is more than just a fun run. Whether you run for your mum, your sister, your best friend, or for yourself, your steps will mean something. Many in the college community, students, families alumni, have been touched by breast cancer. King’s in Pink is the way of showing up and stepping up for them.
Importantly alongside the physical act of running is raising the vital funds needed for breast cancer research to continue to progress. Every dollar raised goes directly to Project Pink, the PA Research Foundation initiative that funds cutting-edge breast cancer research programs based at the PA Hospital Campus. The funds will help develop combination therapies that could one day turn the tide on hard-to-treat, incurable breast cancers.
