Smiddy Fun Run 2026

Join us on November 19 for a run around the PA Hospital campus, in what will be the 20th year of Smiddy Fun Run. In doing so you will be helping to raise funds and awareness for skin cancer research in honour of PA Hospital Physiotherapist Adam Smiddy.

Adam Smiddy was just 26 years old when he died, only six months after being diagnosed with a malignant melanoma.

Adam passed away on 6th August 2006 after only eight days in hospital. Adam was a keen triathlete and runner and a dedicated physiotherapist at the PA Hospital.

Registration is $20 (early bird pricing) until November 5.

Why you should get around Adam this November

The first ever Smiddy Fun Run was organised by Adam's physiotherapy colleagues as a way to celebrate their friend and held on his borthday of November 7. Since then the event has been held each year during skin cancer action week and has raised over $215,000.
When you get around Adam by taking part in Smiddy Fun Run, the funds you raise go directly to melanoma and skin cancer research at the PA Hospital campus. It's thanks to incredible fundraisers like you that the PA Research Foundation has been able to support the purchase of cutting edge equipment like the VivaScope 1500, VECTRA 3D imaging machine prototype and provide funding toward the research of the University of Queensland's Dermatology Research Centre.

Absolutely, Smiddy fun Run is open to both those that wish to run and those who wish to walk the course to help raise funds for vital skin cancer research.

Is breakfast provided following the run?

Yes, a light breakfast is provided following the completion of Smiddy Fun Run which includes gluten and daiory free options.
